Why Sister Exists

Sister was built on a simple belief. Every woman deserves to know exactly what she's putting on her body, in her home, and into her routine. And finding that information shouldn't take months of label reading and Google rabbit holes.

The personal care industry isn't designed to make this easy. Ingredient lists are written in language most of us were never taught to read. Marketing claims like "natural", "clean" and "non-toxic" are used freely with little regulation. Greenwashing is everywhere, and women are left doing the unpaid work of separating what's genuinely safe from what's quietly working against them.

Sister exists to do that work for you.

Our Approach to Healthier Products

At Sister, "healthier" isn't a marketing word. It's a standard. Every brand we feature is assessed across two core pillars.

Ingredient transparency. We analyse full ingredient lists and present them in a way that's actually understandable. No jargon. No hiding behind chemistry.

Safety first evaluation. Our scoring system flags ingredients that current research has linked to potential concerns. Endocrine disruptors. Known allergens. Synthetic fragrances. Compounds still being debated. We present the evidence honestly and let you decide what matters for your body.

Transparency in How We Operate

Sister keeps the directory free for users by partnering with some brands through affiliate links. When you buy a product through Sister, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

This is the part we want to be clear about.

Affiliate commissions have absolutely no influence on our product scoring or recommendations. Every brand is assessed against the same standards, regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with them. We don't accept payment for placement. We don't fast track brands who pay more. And if a product doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't make the directory.

That separation isn't optional. It's the foundation of why Sister exists.
