Babies' skin is thinner and more permeable than adult skin, so conventional baby products' reliance on synthetic fragrance and unnecessary preservatives matters more here than anywhere. In toys and feeding gear, the concerns shift to materials: PVC softened with phthalates, and plastics in bottles and teethers.

Products in this category are held to Sister's strictest reading of our blocklist: fragrance-free or fully-disclosed natural scenting, minimal ingredient lists, organic cotton for clothing and bedding, and plastic-free or verified food-safe materials for anything that ends up in a mouth. If a brand can't verify it, we don't list it.
